Yesterday I watched a very moving and inspiring clip of Sheryl Sandberg's commencement speech. The message was about living with gratitude. She asks the audience to, "image how precious each day would seem if you had only 11 days left." Well, each day really is that precious, no matter how much time you have on this Earth.
Gratitude is something I make a point to practice every day. For just five minutes every morning, I think about and really feel for all the things I'm truly grateful for. At the top of my list is simply that I exist and that I woke up this morning.
In her speech, she talks about how through profound loss, the sudden death of her husband, she was able to find a deeper gratitude for her life and the people in it. It's important to be grateful, not just for the good stuff, when it's easy, but during the hardest times. This is when gratitude can bring the most meaning into your life.
